The problem with Facebook is almost everyone adds new friends based on Facebook's suggested friends. There is hardly ever any communication between each other and you have just added another person who is trying to pitch you their products. This is how you can have 1000 friends and find people with 700 friends in common.
Facebook is very impersonal now and was never designed to be that way. It is much the same as Twitter in that it gets very little conversion to leads and sales because there is so much spam.
That is, of course, if you are doing what 97% of the people on Facebook are doing.
But, here is your chance to do something to stand out from the crowd and generate hundreds of leads from your Facebook followers.
Step 1.
Work on your profile. Put as much detail as possible about you and your family and likes and dislikes. This gives people a chance to relate to you in some way.
This is not a place to pitch your business, but should have a call to action to learn more about you from your blog.
You website URLs. should be displayed on the side. You are working at making personal connections and establishing relationships. If people like you, they will be more interested in finding out what you do.
Step 2.
Join groups that relate to what you are marketing. If you are trying to find people interested in Attraction Marketing, then look for groups filled with these people. If you are interested in selling to soccer fans, join groups about soccer.
Step 3.
Send a personal welcome VIDEO when people join you on Facebook. This way, you become a "real" person, rather than a picture and a message. If you do this, you become instantly different than 99% of people on Facebook and stand out as personable.
Step 4.
Send a birthday video to the people on the list on their birthday. Sing them happy birthday, or leave a funny message that captures their attention. There is no selling here, but you can almost guarantee that they will go to your profile and see what you are all about and will recognize you from that point on as the person who sent them a funny birthday video.
Step 5.
Create your own groups. By having a group following you can send your message out to hundreds or possibly thousands of people at one time, rather than message them individually. It is like having an email list, but it can be a lot more responsive if you are providing value. A great theme is how to make more money and create leads using Facebook. You know all your followers are going to need that knowledge.
The whole point of these steps are to be recognized as someone different in the mess that is Facebook. It is a extremely valuable tool if you are using the right tactics and you will get far better results when you become a real person instead of a spammer. It's all about the relationship. I could make more money from a list of 200 people that I have a relationship with and see me as a likable person who provides value than you could with a list of 2000 people who don't recognize you, or worse yet, recognize you as a spammer.
One final bonus step.
Take five minutes a few times throughout the day and hit "like" or leave comments on the posts you like and agree with. The more response a post gets, the higher it is ranked and it shows up on the Newsfeed as something worth looking at. This is great for plugging your industry, so don't be afraid to leave positive feedback on other people's posts that are selling the same thing as you. Don't look at them as competition. Look at them as partners.
For instance, if I am marketing TVI as my main business, I would look for other people marketing TVI as well and leave them good feedback. As so many of us have the same friends in common it promotes my business on the newsfeed that goes out to everyone. When people see me leaving positive comments and the business always getting recognition and always on their newsfeed they will look more into it. Now, who do you thing they are going to sign up with if they like the opportunity? The guy who is spamming the business, or the one who sent them a funny birthday video?
